A Teacher’s Prayer

September 3rd, 2005 by teacher-melai

Lord Jesus, when You lived and worked and talked amongst men in Palestine,

they called You Teacher.

Help me to remember the greatness of the work which has been given me to do;

that I work with the most precious material in the world,

the mind of the youth.

Help me always to remember that I am making marks upon that mind which time will never rub out.

Give me patience with those who are slow to learn,

and even with those who refuse to learn.

When I have to exercise discipline,

help me to do so in sternness and yet in love.

Keep me from the sarcastic and the biting tongue,

and help me always to encourage those who are doing their best,

even if that best is not very good.

Help me to help my students,

not only to store things in their memories,

but to be able to use their minds,

and to think for themselves.

And amidst all the worries and the frustrations of my job,

help me to remember

that the future of the nation and of the world is in my hands.

Amen.

Ten Things I hate About You

September 3rd, 2005 by teacher-melai

I hate the way you talk to me

And the way you cut your hair

I hate the way you drive my car

I hate it when you stare

I hate your big dumb combat boots

And the way you read my mind

I hate you so much it makes me sick

It even makes me rhyme

I hate the way you’re always right

I hate it when you lie

I hate it when you make me laugh

Even worse when you make me cry

I hate it that you’re not around

And the fact that you didn’t call

But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you

Not even close, not even a little bit

Not any at all

Stick Around

How many times do I daydream

About making love to you

I'll take you to a special place

Where it's only me and you

I'll put away all your troubles

On the other side of the world

And wrap my arms around you, hon

And tell you you're my girl

(So let's go sail away in the night)

And we'll go far away from here

(Tell you that's where our love is right)

Can I take you to my world?

Chorus

Whenever you're sad

Whenever you're crying

I'll be the one who wipes away your tears

Whenever you're cold

Whenever you need me

I'll be the one who runs to you

Give you my love

Well you know how much I love you

So you better not let me down

I'm not asking for too much

Baby, just stick around

A quiet day in the country

Or a rainy night in my room

We'll hide away in a time machine

If the morning comes too soon

An afternoon in your eyes

Or a lifetime in your heart

Forever just ain't long enough

But at least it's a good start

(Falling deeper in love with you)

Will you be there to catch me girl?

(I hope your falling deep with me too)

Can I keep you in my world?

Chorus

Forever, forever

Ooh.. would you come on baby

(let's go sail away in the night)

And we'll go far away from here

(Tell you that's where our love is right)

Ooh..

Cause, whenever you're sad

Whenever you're crying

I'll be the one who wipes away your tears

Whenever you call me

Whenever you need me

I'm gonna be right there and give you my love

Yeah, and you know how much I love you

So you better not let me down

I'm not asking for too much, baby

Just stick around

                                                               Forever, forever

What makes you stay?

(By: Deana Carter)
Look at me
I'm in a place

I never thought I'd be.

I don't have the strength

to fight anymore,

or a reason not to leave.

So tell me why I keep holding on

to something I just cannot see.

What makes you stay when your world falls apart?

What makes you try one more time when it's not in your heart?

At the end of your rope, when you can't find any hope,

you still look at him and say,

"I just can't walk away."

tell me what makes you stay.

I'm not afraid of living alone,

I was alone before he came.

And I've been in love

many times before,

but this time's not the same.

I've always been the first to say goodbye...

now it's the last thing I can do.

What makes you stay when your world falls apart?

What makes you try one more time when it's not in your heart?

At the end of your rope, when you can't find any hope,

you still look at him and say,

"I just can't walk away,

tell me what makes you stay."

When it goes this deep,

feels this strong,

I can't convince myself

this love is wrong.

At the end of your rope,

when you can't find any hope,

you still look at him and say,

"I just can't walk away...
tell me what makes you stay.

Tell me what makes you… stay."

Funny Yet Sad?

Funny how oftentimes,

the moments that make us truly happy

are those moments that don’t seem to add up

to any sort of future…Sad
